Therapy for when it feels like something is missing
Trauma therapy available in East Aurora and all of NY virtually
You've done therapy. You get your trauma. But something's still missing—you're talking about your life instead of actually living it.
Your protector parts still take over. You still float away. You still end up exhausted and frustrated by the same cycles.
You know you need someone who can handle severe trauma without flinching. Who gets that hypervigilance isn't a choice when it's kept you alive this long. Who sees dissociation as brilliant survival, not resistance.
Maybe past therapy moved too fast—EMDR when you couldn't stay in your body, exposure work when you were still white-knuckling through sessions. Maybe 50 minutes always ended right when you were starting to settle. The approaches weren't wrong, they just weren't built for what you're carrying.
This Work is Different
Sessions run up to 90 minutes. Because you can't regulate a complex nervous system on a timer.
We start with stabilization, always. No touching trauma memories until your body actually believes it's safe. No fighting with protector parts that are doing exactly what they learned to do. No rushing toward "processing" when presence itself is still hard.
Your body knows the difference between someone following a manual and someone who's familiar with this territory. Between pushing through and actually landing. Between treatment for simple PTSD and work that honors what complex trauma actually feels like.
A Note on Safety & Solidarity
“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."
— Lilla Watson
The Grounded Center isn't neutral territory—it's sanctuary. I stand firmly with BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, immigrant, and all communities targeted by state violence and oppression. Your nervous system knows the difference between real safety and performed niceness. Here, you'll find the former.
My own liberation is bound up with yours. When we work together, we're not just healing individual trauma—we're resisting the systems that harm us all. Your story, your identity, and your privacy are fiercely protected within the fullest extent of the law.
When You’re Ready
That missing piece isn't more insight or coping skills. It's a nervous system that believes it's finally safe to come home. Where surviving can shift into living—not because you've been fixed, but because you've been met.
